Phase III

Phase III studies are conducted only after satisfactory data obtained from Phase I and II proves the investigational medication is safe, effective, and beneficial in treating the intended population. Phase III studies are also well-controlled and involve examining the medication in a much larger patient population (over 1000 participants) utilizing several research sites. Phase III studies typically last several years as pharmaceutical companies continue to collect important data on the new medication to submit for FDA approval.
