Dr. Sherwyn L. Schwartz, M.D.

Dr. Schwartz is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of dgd Research, Inc. as well as founder and Medical Director of the Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 and a medical degree in 1972 from the University of Illinois. He served his internship and residency at Michael Reese Hospital from 1972 to 1975. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital from 1975 to 1976, where he also became an instructor. Dr. Schwartz has held several academic appointments, including assistant professor of endocrinology and general medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has also been an endocrinology consultant to Brook Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston. Dr. Schwartz is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the Texas Diabetes Association, The Endocrine Society, as well as the medical advisor to numerous pharmaceutical companies and endocrinology foundations.
Dr. Jerome S. Fischer, M.D.

Dr. Fischer is Senior Vice President and Associate Medical Director for dgd Research, Inc. as well as Assistant Medical Director for the Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical School in 1977. He served his internship and residency at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center from 1977 to 1980. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at George Washington University Medical Center in 1982, where he also became an associate professor. He has been a clinical instructor in endocrinology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 1983. Dr. Fischer is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism, clinical densitometry, and AACE/ISC-certified in bone density measurement. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Endocrine Society, as well as other professional organizations.
Dr. Mark S. Kipnes, M.D.

Dr. Kipnes is Executive Vice President and Associate Medical Director for dgd Research, Inc. as well as Assistant Medical Director for the Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences in 1975 and a medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in 1979. He served his internship and residency at Mercy Hospital from 1979 to 1982. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at George Washington University Medical Center from 1982 to 1984. He has been a clinical professor in general medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 2001. Dr. Kipnes is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Endocrine Society, as well as other professional organizations.
Dr. Mark Danney, M.D.

Dr. Danney is a research physician and pediatric endocrinologist with dgd Research, Inc. and the Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1968 and a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1972. He served his internship and residency at Wilford Hall USAD Medical Center from 1972 to 1974. He completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at University of Iowa-affiliated hospitals and clinics from 1974 to 1976. Dr. Danney has been a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 1982. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. Dr. Danney is a member of the American Diabetes Association, Texas Pediatric Society, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, as well as other professional organizations.
Dr. Douglas S. Denham, D.O.

Dr. Denham is the Associate Medical Director for dgd Research, Inc. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1981 and completed the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989. He served an internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 1989 to1992. For over 10 years, Dr. Denham has been actively involved in caring for both military and civilian communities in San Antonio. Dr. Denham is board certified in family practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Texas Academy of Family Practice, the Bexar County Medical Society, as well as other professional organizations.
