Established in 1979 by Sherwyn L. Schwartz, M.D., the Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic is the largest private endocrinology practice in the United States.
Together with Drs. Jerome S. Fischer, Mark S. Kipnes, W. Fernando Trigoso, Amna Salhin, Jacob Vadakekalam, and Mark Danney, the Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic sees over 5,000 patients per month and approximately 100 new patients per week. DGD's endocrinology team utilizes the most current medical interventions for treating diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, as well as lipid, hormonal, and glandular disorders.
Located within the clinic, The Diabetes Self-Management Training & Education Center is the first ADA-recognized center in Texas. The certified diabetes educators are Registered Nurses and Dieticians who provide Type I, Type II, and gestational diabetes education as well as insulin adjustments, insulin pump training, metabolic rate testing, and continuous glucose device monitoring.
